February 10, 2010

My Stink-Bug is 19 months today!  I can't believe how fast she has grown.  She's my only niece.  I love her more than I thought I could ever love a human being.  This partially because her mother (my 'baby' sister) is not in her life and because she's so freakin' cute, I mean look at her! ; My Mom has custody and takes care of her along with the help of J and I.

My sister had Baby G at 18.  She was diagnosed as being bipolar a few years before and refuses to take medication since she feels nothing is wrong with her.  She is a complusive liar and is really just not well.  She could hardly take care of herself, let alone a baby.  Shortly after Baby G's first birthday my sister got into prescription pain killers that are so very popular down here in SoFL.  "Roxy's" as they call them. smoking them, snorting them, popping them.

Long story short... she ended up telling our Mom that she couldn't take care of G, that it was to much work.  She left, and went to Baby G's POS fathers house (also a 19 year old).  Soon after she ended up in another house, then to another, and ultimately ended up in a rehab and then a halfway house.  She then decided (when G's father decided) to move to Colorado, where his parents are.  She left.

Baby G has been here with us.  It's probably the best thing for her.  She is an amazing little girl and if my Mom would let me, J and I would take her.  My Momma is the strongest most wonderful lady in the world.  She knows it's not fair, but what can you do. I digress.

My baby is 19 months old! (Yes MY baby.  She may not be from my womb, but in every other way she is mine.)  Sorry for the life story.. I hardly ever say where and what happened to my sister.  Feels good to get it out, even if it is the shortened version.

On a lighter note:  We're going to put an offer in on a house today.  God willing, everything will work in our favor. CROSS YOUR FINGERS!

New York State of Mind

If there is one thing that I love to do more than to just hang out with my pops it's go to New York with him.  I've only ever gone with him, he was born in Brooklyn and knows so much about the city and has so much insite on things.  We haven't been since '07.  Of course, he's been plenty of times.  But I've also been wanting to take J up with us being that he's never even been there!

So we finally figured out when we're going and we're buying our tickets today or tomorrow!  We're leaving on March 17th (St. Pattys Day) and coming back on the 21st. Yayyy, uber stoked.  Not only because we're going, but because I love going on vacay with my Daddy and J will finally get to see the city.  Which by the way -- I LURVE.  It's such an awesome place with so much to see and BUY! ;)

Another reason why I'm stoked is that one of my besties since 6th grade now lives in Manhattan! She landed an awesome job at Microsoft right out of graduating college! I haven't been up to see her yet but she came down here at least 4 times for me during my wedding planning and for the wedding.  So I'm happy that I'll actually get to see where and what she's doing with her life up there.

Oh and I've been thinking about flying.  I hate flying as it is, but with all the craptastic stuff going on I am planning on tackling anyone who makes any sudden movements on my flights.  Yes. It's that serious.

New Year, New Thoughts

My God-Momma emailed this little thing to me, thought it was cute.  I'm not one to make 'resolutions'.  I have goals for myself that are short term and I go a month at a time.  Who am I really kidding, right?

Health
:

1.       Drink plenty of water.
2.       Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3.       Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants..
4.       Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5.       Make time to pray.
6.       Play more games.
7.       Read more books than you did in 2009 .
8.       Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9.       Sleep for 7 hours.
10.     Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality
:

11.    Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12.    Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive

         present moment.
13.    Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14.    Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15.    Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16.    Dream more while you are awake.
17.    Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18.    Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin

         your present happiness.
19.    Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20.    Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21.    No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22.    Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.  Problems are simply part of the curriculum that

appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23.    Smile and laugh more.
24.    You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.....

Society
:

25.    Call your family often.
26.    Each day give something good to others.
27.    Forgive everyone for everything..
28.    Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of  6.
29.    Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30.    What other people think of you is none of your business.
31.    Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life
:

32.    Do the right thing!
33.    Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
34.    GOD heals everything.
35.    However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
36.    No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37.    The best is yet to come..
38.    When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39.    Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

2009 via Nutshell

I saw a lot of blogs reminiscing about 2009, so shall I.

January - J and I had already been engaged 6 months! I hadn't done anything really wedding related because I didn't want to plan, I was lazy.  Thus, my wedding vendor shopping started.  Two of our really close friends had finally gotten engaged after 5 years of dating.  I started working more than 15 hrs a week. Blah!

February - My birthday month AND Valentine's Day! We usually do a 2-in-1 sort of thing since V-day and my birthday are 10 days apart.  Last year we went to the Bahamas, this year we went to Orlando to go to Animal Kingdom! It was awesome, we had a blast.  I also found my wedding dress this month! Yay.

March - We ended up at 3 or 4 different St. Pattys day parties and one parade.  We booked our florist, and cake lady.  This was a boring month I guess...

April - J's best friend got married, we had a great time at the wedding!  My niece was out of my sisters womb just as long as she was in.. she turned 9 months!  We did a lot of misc wedding related things and we moved into our apartment since buying a house was not happening!

May - One of my besties birthday was in the beginning of the month, we went to Taverna OPA in City Place and had a awesome time!  Our close friends who were engaged on New Years Eve finally tied the knot after their short engagement. It was beautiful to witness a love so strong and patient finally be sealed!

June - One of my other besties birthday! We got drunk and did our thing like usual.  We booked the rest of our vendors this month also.

July - My Stink Bug turned 1 so we had a pool party at my pops house! :) We also had a kick ass 4th of July party complete with an awesome slip n' slide!!! Somehow we ended up in the Keys at the end of the month.  Nothing like a spur of the moment trip!

August - Very busy month! A few Marlins games, we scheduled to take our e-pics on a Friday, my bridal shower was Saturday and that Sunday we left for Vegas (for J's 26th birthday)!  Wellllllll, our photog Rebekah's hubby was rushed to the hospital that Friday afternoon, so we reschedule to October.  My shower was at Maggianos, it was great! Vegas of course, was awesome - we went with two of our best friends and my FIL! Good times.

September - Ah, yes.  The start of the Canes season.  My life now consists of Hurricanes football and beer from now until December.

October - Took our E-pics! Yay!  We finalized all the vendors, and all the little details for the wedding.  Then of course towards the end of the month we painted a pumpkin with Gabby, and did the whole Halloween thing! :)

November - Wedding month!  It was a crazy quick month, it was done before I could take it all in.  I didn't work at all in the weeks leading up to it.  Then it was there! Just like that.  Then we left for Park City the Monday after! THEN, Thanksgiving! Whew! Busy busy, but I loved every minute of it and think about it everyday.

December - Our first Christmas as Mr. & Mrs.  it was so surreal. I couldn't believe that we were where we had talked about for over a year!

I'm truely blessed.  I can only hope that this coming year will be 10x better.
Happy 2010 everyone, be safe.

I totally love this time of year.  Parents fighting about where you're going and at what time.  Rude snowbirds that can't drive to save their lives.  People forgetting what Christmas is all about.  Oh, and of course all the wonderful desserts, dishes and fattening goodness.  Hope you all have a wonderful holiday, whatever it may be.  Just remember to be thankful. For everything.
 MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!

Daily Bitch Session

I've found the one thing I think that I dislike more than anything, EVER.  House hunting.  We started last year around this time and decided to rent, now we're back at it.   J and I really don't want to renew our lease in a few months.

So, you know, I went into it thinking the usual things people think:  I want this many rooms, this many bathrooms, 1 story, 2 story, pool/no pool, garage/no garage.  I'm a huge freak about the layout, it has to be perfect.  Of course.  The price range that we're looking at is hit and miss.  Especially in Boynton (which i HATE by the way).   But that deserves a whole post just in itself.  I can't help but to feel hatred against this whole process.  Only because I know what I want, and I can't have it....yet.  Which brings me to the real reason behind this post...

Sometimes I think that J and I should just suck it up and stay in our apartment for another year to save money so that we can get a house we truely want instead of settleing for something that's OK.  But then, I worry about all these awesome deals right now and if they're still going to be around in another year.  Ahhhhh... The worst part of this all is that I have major baby fever and we keep saying as soon as we get the house we can start trying.  Meaning, babymaking will have to be postponed also. Waahhhhhh

Back from Hiatus - Married!

Okay so we've been married for, oh, 30something days. Wedding day came and went. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Sure, there were things that didn't go right. My crazy realtives were all bickering about who would sit where - dispite having assigned seating. The usual mishaps, happened. Oh well. Moving on....

I guess I can start blogging about being a wife. That is, if I can bring myself to be a good blogger.

Christmas is this Friday (sigh). Our first married Christmas and of course our parents want to see us. Being that they're divorced, its 4 stops not 2. Everyone has their panties in a twist about where we're going. Needless to say, I'm not looking foward to going to two different places Xmas day. But what can you do... next year I told J we are going away. Then we don't have to deal with the bullshit.
